PUTOLINE XC CHAMPIONSHIP (fast eddy)

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Venue: Jurby, Isle of man

Result  4th pro,     (2nd in the championship)

What a top place for the final round of a championship, The weather again was not with us and pitman rich and daisy were suffering on the ferry over, with force 9-10 winds and 30 foot waves there were not many who were not ill (not me though). We arrived for friday practice and soon got used to the sand and after an hour and a few practice starts went back to the hotel. The rain and high winds were back on saturday morning and after putting my bike on the line it got blown over snapping the clutch lever, so off richie went to replace that. The flag went down at 1030 and I got a mega start and started to pull a lead at the front, but the moto cross boys were soon on me and passed me on the beach about half a lap in, I finished forth in the pro race which gave me 2nd in the pro championship for the year which I was pleased with. Into the grand island hotel to pick up the trophy and to see the hilarious dancer that kath edmonson had arranged (excellent), Massive thanks to Richie and Daisy for coming over to help me out, sorry about the ferry ride, I hear there is an airport nearby for next year, and to Tim at foto-x for the write up on enduronews and the photos.

WESTON BEACH RACE

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Venue: Weston super-mare

Result  Not sure

The biggest entry of bikes on the calender by far, in excess of 1000 bikes, what a crazy race, with the high chance of wrecking a bike it was decided a few months back that I would not ride my race bike as we are off to the isle of man nine days later so richie prepared me a 2007 bike and with a few mods she was ready to go. I was not seeded this year so I got down there early and got a good position in the park ferme and on the day managed to get to the beach around 40th so was in a fairly good position. I was running standard gearing so a few got past me on the mile and a quarter start straight, I got to the first dune and it was clear and got over it, the second and third dunes were no problem and then I got taken out at the forth, no problem had another go and got over. I then settled into the race and was making good progress, easily in the top 50 when on the 4th lap my engine seized up at the end of the straight, very disappointed but not really that surprised as it has done a lot of hours. The weekend was excellent and the night life was as good as always, and some sights to been seen (Paget), Thanks for sorting the bike out rich sorry I wrecked it

G P ENGINEERING TROPHY

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Venue: Yatley heath, Hampshire

Result  1st expert, trophy winner

The weather forcast was really bad for this sunday and they didnt get that wrong but as usual the normandy club did a great job of running the event whatever the conditions. I was riding well and won the tests by over 10 seconds even after a few silly mistakes, the times were spot on, I had a minor drama on a tight check when some wire got tangled in my wheel which took me 5 minutes to get out and I lost 5 minutes on that check but I pushed hard and blitzed the others on the next tight check to take the win,  I was dissappointed with the negative comments that were posted on net after the event as I thought the times were just right and Rob Muss, Nick and the team did a great job putting on and running that event, well done guys
