Venue: Hungry Hill, Aldershot

Result  1st overall

Having to hurry back from yesterdays race to change the barrell, piston and get the bike preped for today was a bit a rush but with Richie, Ryan and myself  we soon had the Yamaha back up and running and looking good for the race. The weather was not looking so good, very cold and wet. I set off at ten and decided to ride without a jacket (big mistake), when I got round the first lap I was so cold and wet a had to change my tops to carry on. Then into my first test, which went ok but I hit two trees at the end of the test in the tight part which cost me a lot of time, I think I was second on that one by 1 second. Another lap and the next test was better, I won that one by ten seconds. The times were spot on and it came down to one tight check which looked like it was not acheivable, I got held up slightly and dropped one minute which was frustrating as I should have cleaned it but I was more than a minute clear of Freddie so I took the win. Thanks to Rich and Ryan for fixing the bike and getting it ready for the race, Couldnt have done it without you. Well done to all the Kingston boys for the season, finishing south east club champions once again (I cant remember how many times in a row it is now). I could only fit three rounds in this year, but three starts and three wins I hope I did my bit, Not sure how many rounds we can do next year, But I look forward to riding the ones we can.

MXC (motocross country)

Venue: Boreton farm, Shewsbury

Result  dnf

2 x 1 hour races in one day, this new format of racing I think will become extremely popular. The lap was set out in a stubble field with fast flowing corners and no obsticles, It certainly looked as though it was going to be really fast and great fun. I got the holeshot and got away cleanly but with only a four minute lap I had soon caught the tail end of the field and had a coming together with a back marker, taking me out on a corner, This had allowed Jack Twentyman to get in front of me, We then had a great battle for the lead but it was not long untill I noticed the power was going off on my bike and a few corners later all the compression had gone. When I got back to pits we saw that the rads had become blocked and and run dry and after taking the barrel off it had blown the rings, A great shame as the racing was excellent fun but we will back for the other two rounds.

Portsmouth h&h

Venue: Emsworth, Portsmouth

Result  1st overall

Its been a while since I have ridden at the Portsmouth club due to other racing commitments, so it was good to head back there for the three hour race, The flag went down at 11am and I got the hole shot again!!!, I led for about half a lap then I missed an arrow and went wrong, this gave Rob Carey a chance to take the lead, I held back for the remainder of the 1st lap and just followed Rob to get a look at the track, as soon as we got round to the start area I had seen enough so overtook Rob and pulled away, The track got very muddy but the weather stayed dry all day. No richie today but the pit stops were slick, Lap times were around 11 minutes and I had lapped everyone by about 1 hour 20 mins into the race and I lapped everyone again by the end of the race except Lawrence catt who excaped by just 20 seconds, (shame cause I was aiming to win by two clear laps). A great training ride but some serious cleaning to do before next week!

Track n Trail

Venue: Castle Hill, Dorchester

Result  2nd pro

With a entry list that looked like a british championship line up it was going to be a very fast and exciting race, I took the holeshot again this race, My 2009 Yamaha yz250 is near on unbeatable off the line, and saying that Phil, 2nd off the line was on one too, so that speaks for itself. I had a great ride, Battled with Wakley for a bit mid race before he found his form but then later broke down on his HUSKY, Sager was also out with machincal problems on the KTM machine. Hinam won the race 2 minutes infront of me, then 3rd place was 13 minutes back. Well done Mike and the team for running a very rideable event, the bike was spot on again and thanks to the crew again for standing in the cold, still at least it wasnt raining for a change.

THE TOUGH ONE (little brother)

Venue: Corwen, North Wales

Result  8th pro

This was my first extreme hare scramble event. We arrived in the morning and walked the track and it was clear that it was going to be a crazy race, lining up with the likes of  Eddy, Sager and Braybrook I was looking forward to the race. Not being a trials rider myself, I found that It took me a while to find any pace on the rocks and tricky decents, I finished 8th only 3 minutes of 6th place after 2 hours, and after all the incidents i had in the race I know I could easily make that up and more, A great learning race for me in preperation for the extreme tests next year.
