250F Testing

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

After a few weeks off with a knee injury I collected a new 250f from Poole motorcycles, which I will be competing on in the British championships and Europeon rounds in 2009 and headed back to a track in Dorking to test it out. The weather has been aweful this week and conditions were very muddy and I was very suprised with the level of grip that I was able to get from this bike dispite this, unlike the two strokes aggresive power the back end never felt like it wanted to step out when you gave it handfull of throttle, the engine delivered a very useable level of power in those conditions. The standard suspension was very smooth and although I was carrying alot of extra weight with the mud the shocks seemed to work very well and dealt with everything smoothly. The standard gearing was a little low for my riding so a slight adjustment was needed there. I am running a heavier flywheel to give the bike more bottom end power and a modified clutch to keep it more consistant in extreme conditions, available from Andy at Poole mcs. Just a few minor tweaks to still to do but I am very much looking forward to riding this bike in a couple of weeks time at the first British round, Just hope my fitness has not suffered to much after being of the bike for a month.
