TRACK N TRAIL
Sunday, March 15th, 2009Venue: Castle Park, Dorchester, Dorset
Result: 2nd Championship
This is always a good venue with a great mix of terrian, fast open mx track and soft sandy woodland that always gets cut up and rutted which tends to favour the enduro rider because fittness is a real factor in riding these woods for three hours. Quite a good list of riders on the front line, Hinam, Studley, Biles, Cormick etc. We set of for the sighting lap at full race pace as usual all trying to set the standard for the race. When it was time for the race I didnt get a great start and slotted in to the first corner about 5th, Hinam, Cormick and Twentyman got away and pulled a lead of about 40 seconds or so on the first lap but I wasnt to concerned as I knew I would reel them back in later. My laps were consistant and I moved back up to 2nd behind Hinam, but I could not gain on him, His laps times were very good and he led going into the last lap by 3 mins. I could not understand why my right foot kept coming off the peg untill when the race had finished and I realised I had snapped my foot peg off, Must have hit a stump, Anyway there was not much off it left so that was making riding a little more difficault but I was pleased with my ride and 2nd place finish securing plenty of points for the championship. We had made a few adjustments to the carb at practice in the week, and the bike was running really well. Finally the sun was out aswell which made the day even better.
